I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and currently live in Washington Heights (Uptown Manhattan) with my husband/college sweetheart Tomas. While I have always had a love of photography, for most of my life it was just a hobby. I spent my 20’s working in the fashion industry, developing clothing as a Product Manager for Macy’s. At the age of 29 I reached a crossroads and felt like it was now or never to make a change for myself, so I quit my successful career to pursue my dream of becoming a photographer. I spent a few years studying at the International Center of Photography and assisting various fashion, portrait & interior photographers. Changing my life was a risk, but I have never looked back with regret. I believe in doing what you love, rather than doing what is comfortable or expected.
It took me a few years to figure out how I was meant to share my talent with others. An unexpected maternity session, made everything fall into place. I realized that my heart was the most full when I was capturing life’s greatest and simplest beauties. A born nostalgic (in the fourth grade I took individual portraits of each of my classmates in the school yard so that I could remember them as they were before some left for a different middle school), I learned at a young age that sometimes when we lose someone or things change, a photograph can end up being the thing you treasure most.
It is truly rewarding for me to share my creativity and love of art with the families that allow me to photograph their stories. Every day I feel so lucky that this is my job. It's still surreal. My passion, personality and patience is a significant part of the experience since it puts my subjects at ease, and allows us all to have fun and enjoy the session. Family photography is an intimate experience, and we can’t help but to learn a bit more about each other during this time. Quite often, a friendship has developed after the session, and that always lets me know that the bond and openness helped aid in the creation of real and true moments captured.
Check out some of these moments in my galleries and feel free to contact me for more details. I would love to work with you!
ps - Travel is my other passion, so no distance is too far!
